Wines
& Beers ::
“Our aim is
to introduce people to the myriad of different
flavours that can be created when Indian
cuisine is paired with good wine”.
Exotic dishes and increasingly adventurous
palates mean that Indian cuisine is demanding
equally colourful wines to complement
the renaissance of sub-continental flavours.
Some people are under the false impression
that wine is not an appropriate accompaniment
to Indian food. Sadly, they are missing
one of life’s sensual taste treats.
For example, controlled tasting have shown
that some iced drinks can accentuate the
fierceness of a hot curry, whereas a tannic
Cabernet Sauvignon, for instance, suddenly
becomes soft and at the same time cools
your palate.
However, if you are already a convert
to drinking wine with Indian food and
are looking for a change, then we highly
recommend Cobra Beer, truly the king of
all Indian beers.
Our extensive and adventurous wine list
has laid the foundations for taking the
fear out of matching a Curry and Chianti.
With our wines listed under user friendly
headings; the Indian culinary experience
can be an imaginative and very rewarding
one. We recommend a young Cabernet Sauvignon
to balance the blaze of a hot and spicy
dish and a rich Sauvignon Blanc to enhance
the herb and meat flavours of a succulent
kebab. Less assertive white wines with
gentle acidity like or a full-bodied red
wines with generous fruit would blend
nicely with sauced dished other than curry.
